Personal Survival Training - From the 17th April, 4 cadets will be taking part in a 6 week survival course in Moray Liesure Centre. Cadets Daniel Jack, Thomas Meikle, Ryan & Michael Christy, will be covering water life saving skills, first aid and swimming skills.

Area Ski week at the Lecht was a great success, with the added bonus of no broken bones. 24 cadets from around the country took part, including N. Ireland, with 6 from Moray. Most had never ski'd before and they were all awarded a Basic Skiing certificate.

From May the T.S. Findhorn new mooring will be at Lossiemouth for power boating. Sailing and pulling will be held in Inverness until further notice as joint venture with TS Briton.

Highland District Junior Boys 5-A-Side Football Team - 25th January 2009
Match Report

Play started 40 minutes late, and it was 1100 before we had our first game in Boys Junior League 1 (of 2), beating Fife & Tayside 2-1. An hour later, Tyne South just beat us 1-0, but after another hour, Edinburgh won 5-2. Just over an hour later, we were in the lead 2-0 against Clyde South, eventually losing 4-3.
After the playoffs, Clyde South took Bronze, Northumberland took Silver and Grampian were the trophy winners with Gold.

Boys Seniors: Bronze Fife & Tayside; Silver Grampian; Gold Northumberland.
Girls Juniors: Bronze Teesside; Silver Fife & Tayside; Gold Grampian
Girls Seniors: Bronze Teesside; Silver Tyne South; Gold Clyde South
Highland came away with 4 District points, and Tyne South were winners of the overall points trophy, having lots of teams entered! Player of the day was from Grampian.

To round the presentations off, Lt.Cdr. Ian Wilson was introduced to the Canada Trophy awarded to the best unit in the UK, in advance of formal presentation by the Second Sea Lord.

Opportunities

We are always looking for Instructors at the unit. Adults from 18. We are looking mainly for new blood who can help with any water based activities or with class based activities. Training is provided by the Sea Cadet Corps and is offered throughout Britain. Training includes sailing, powerboating, kayaking, windsurfing, marine engineering, first aid, and lots more. Whether you would like to offer on a regular basis or a just now and again please contact us.

Cadets start as Junior Cadet from 10 years to 12 years and Seniors 12 to 18 years. It is always hoped that Cadets reaching 18 years old may wish to come back to the Unit as a member of staff.
Moray Sea Cadets meet on Wednesdays for the juniors a 6.30pm until 8.30 pm and the seniors 6.45pm until 9.15 pm. The juniors and seniors meet together on the last Thursday of the month for a Parade night, which is an opportunity to check the Cadets uniforms are still fitting and in good condition. Uniforms are provided free of charge except for a £10 returnable deposit.
Cadets and staff have opportunities to travel around the UK to various Naval Establishments for courses as diverse as Cook Steward, Engineering, Diving etc. The Corps has two offshore training vessels, the TS Royalist and TS John Jerwood with funding started for a third vessel.
There are also four offshore yachts that Cadets can sail on; the juniors have their own vessel, the TS Bob Allen. If you would like more information please contact PO Michele Smith
